I am so grateful that my sinus infection is finally gone and that my appetite has returned! I am feeling so much better. I've even been sleeping pretty well for the past week or so. My pregnancy has returned to that easy state where my only symptom is tiredness. Now that, I can live with!
I had another doctor's appointment this week. It was my first OB appointment. It went very well. So well, in fact, that we were able to hear our baby's heartbeat for the first time. My doctor told us that we are privileged because they expect to hear it by week 12, can typically hear it by week 10, but that in order to hear it at week 9, your uterus has to be in the PERFECT position. I was praying that we would be able to hear the heartbeat and I am so glad that God gave us this exciting little gift!
As far as the rest of my pregnant state goes, there isn't too much to report, which I'm thankful for. (I always like when the doctor has very little to say and it's all good news)! I currently weigh 4 pounds less than I did when I got pregnant. This is due to the loss of appetite from my sinus infection and what, I've decided, was the flu. Not to worry though, I will have plenty of time to make up the weight in the 2nd and 3rd trimesters. Since I know the baby is healthy and safe, I am kind of thankful for this weight loss because I'm going to try hard to keep my weight gain at a healthy minimum. My mom only gained 11 pounds when she was pregnant with me. Oh! How I would love it if that was the case with this baby. (I have a feeling that this is way easier said than done).
The baby did receive some new toys this week: a Pooh Bear stuffed animal that Grandpa and Grandma Larson brought back from their vacation to Florida and a little rattle toy from Barbara Morgan, the grandparent that volunteers in my classroom every morning. Our little one has also been given several books, some bath toys, and a really cute portable bassinet that folds up to the size of a backpack.
Friday, I told my students that we are expecting. They wanted to meet the baby immediately. We had to talk about the fact that God has to finish making the baby first and that they will get the chance to meet him/her toward the end of the school year. The concept of pregnancy is totally lost on them. I'm excited to see what kinds of questions/comments they have once I start showing.
The last bit of news in the life of Baby Vanderwall this week is that they still remain nameless if we find out we're having a boy. We certainly have some boy names picked out, the problem is, they do not currently match up. Sam's trying to convince me to go with his name choice and use my name choice as a middle name. I have to admit, it doesn't sound bad, but I haven't given in. We'll see...Once we have things nailed down a little more, we'll reveal our name choices on our blog.
Hi Kasi! Congratulations! I am so happy for you and your hubby. It is so neat to see what God is doing in your life. It doesn't seem that long ago you were my student and such special memories I have of that. What an awesome student you were to have in class. May God continue to reign his blessings down on you and yours. Love you Kasi. :)
ReplyDeleteThank you! You are very sweet. I know, it doesn't seem that long ago. I always think of that when I see Kelli around town. It seems like just yesterday we were all going to your house for Christmas parties or playing basketball on that little cement court...how time flies! Sam and I are very excited. We're amazed at how the Lord provides and blesses us on a daily basis! Love you too!
ReplyDeletePS- That grandson of yours is so adorable!
Wow, "Grandpa and Grandma Larson"! That has a nice ring to it, but is that really us? Those must be two much older people :)
ReplyDeleteSpeaking of such things, Sam and I want to know what you guys would like to be called. (Grandma/Grandpa, Nanna/Papa, etc.)
