Happy 1.5 years! You no longer look like a baby...little boy-ness has definitely taken over. Mommy has a daily moment of silence and sometimes tears when I think about how big you've gotten and that you aren't a baby anymore. (Okay, I'm not quite that bad, but sometimes it feels like it).
Life continues as usual at the Vanderwall house. We are busy working away on work and homework and helping Grandpa and Grandma at the store. They only have 3 more days left there so this week is extra crazy. It is all incredibly hard to digest and I we are all feeling pretty sad about it. We know that God will take care of our family and that He has great plans in store. Mommy and Daddy and everyone else are grateful for the amazingly well behaved 1 year old you've been throughout this process and all our time spent at the store.
Speaking of what a well-behaved little 1 year old you are...Daddy and I have been noticing some little streaks of the terrible 2's lately. Lord help us all! You get so frustrated and upset if you cannot be as independent as you want and you're not afraid to show it. Even though I'm tattling on you, you really are a mild-mannered, well-behaved little boy. Hopefully your 2's won't be too terrible :)
Halloween is fast-approaching. We will be at the store all day that day so you won't be going trick-or-treating until Saturday. You'll be dressed up as a cute little gnome, beard and all. Your Daddy was in 7th heaven when I found this costume. I'll be sure to post pictures next month. (I'm excited to go with you this year because you'll actually be able to walk around in your costume. I just hope you'll leave it on).
You were reading a book with Auntie Kristi today and she asked you what a dog said. For the first time ever, you didn't spit. You actually said "woof!" We were all amazed. We will have to start working on other animal sounds.
Other things we've been working on lately include: telling people how old you are (you old up 1 finger and get the proudest little smile on your face), body parts (we are now really good at eyes, mouth, nose, and belly...still working on ears. Eyes are your favorite. You just poke them over and over again while saying "Eye, eye, eye."), letters (you have a little foam puzzle with removable letters and we've been working on putting the puzzle back together which you do pretty well with. We're also working on finding the "N" for "Noah."), and continuing to add to your vocabulary. This seems to be growing on a daily basis. You're starting to be quite the little parrot!
Books have become one of your favorite things. This makes your mommy's heart so proud! The other day Daddy couldn't find you and he finally saw you laying on our little floor-level recliner in the living room. You were just reading a book to yourself. It isn't unusual for us to see you carrying books around while "reading" them.
The living room has become quite the source of entertainment for you. You've learned that you can climb off and on the futon by yourself. Often times, you will climb on it and walk around on it. If Daddy or I come into the room you'll sit down as quickly as possible and try to pass yourself off as innocent...we're on to you, buddy!
Shoes are one of your most current obsessions. If you see them laying around you will not let Daddy or I rest until we put them on you. It doesn't matter what you're wearing, many a times we've fastened them on your feet over your footie pajamas, you just want to wear shoes!
Daddy and I are being eaten out of house and home by you and we couldn't be happier! You go to the doctor tomorrow and I'm guessing we will have finally hit the 20 lb. mark...I've thought this before though so I guess we'll wait and see.
Mommy had a great birthday this month! You and Daddy got to join me and my kids and Auntie Kendra at the pumpkin patch for the morning. It was so fun and you seemed to enjoy it, well at least you enjoyed the parts during which you could walk by yourself :)
I'll have lots to post next month after we go trick-or-treating and head to Seattle for Thanksgiving. We'll be sure to get lots of good pictures!
Mommy and Daddy love you beyond imagination! You are the light of our lives and we are better people because of you. God truly blessed our family when He decided to send you our way. We continue to pray that you will soon have a genuine relationship with Him and grow in Him each and every day. You are loved. You are blessed!
Love,
Mommy and Daddy
