My goodness! Every time I turn around it seems as though you've grown another inch taller! Our bill at the Children's Place serves to prove exactly that. We pulled all your fall clothes out a couple weeks ago and found that, while all your long sleeve shirts and pants fit you around the waist just fine, the sleeves are all an inch too short and your pants are total high-waters.
You are the sweetest big brother ever! You absolutely adore your baby sister and are a very good helper for her. You love to hold her, comfort her when she cries, wipe her mouth when she spits up, get clean diapers out for her when I change her, give her a pusu if she's crying, and you give periodic reports of her behavior in the car when Mommy and Daddy can't see what she is doing. I think you're going to be slightly protective of her growing up. Her boyfriends better watch out for both Daddy and you!
There have been a lot of moments lately when your sweet, funny, lovable little personality gives way to the 2 year old demon living inside you. Yikes! I'm sure some of it is adjusting to a new sibling (thankfully you don't take it out on her), some of it is adjusting to Daddy's new schedule, some of it is being a 2 year old who so desperately wants to be 100% independent, and some of it is just that dang fallen, sinful nature of ours. We've been working hard to help you learn to be independent and to have some freedoms, yet to have some responsibilities and to be respectful to your parents. Most of the time, you do a very good job of this, but there are days when Mommy and Daddy feel like starting a boarding school for 2 year olds. Across the country. Where we don't live or work.
Some of your favorites have changed quite a bit over the last few months. It somehow seems that you sort of grew up over night. You still love to play outside. You now prefer showers to baths. You love to watch Transformers, though Curious George still receives a request now and then. You like to help with all the housework: dusting, dishes, laundry, etc. You love to play with transformers. Optimus Prime, Megatron, and Bumblebee are your favorites.
We went to the pumpkin patch on Saturday, just as a family of 4. It was nice to spend some time together, especially since the 4 of us aren't together very often these days. You got to go to a petting/feeding zoo. You loved looking at all the animals, but didn't want to feed any of them. You only pet the donkey, the bunnies, and the sheep, but we also saw turkeys, geese, kittens, ponies, alpacas, and piglets. We took a hayride on a tractor, went down a huge slide, played on jumbo tires, went through a straw bale maze, and got some really yummy donuts. You seemed to enjoy yourself very much!
You've started this lovely little new habit. Whenever someone is talking to you, whether you hear them or not, your only response is "huh?" over and over and over and over again. Apparently selective hearing starts around age 2. It is about to make Mommy and Daddy go batty. I don't know where you picked it up at, but hopefully it doesn't stick around for long.
Two weeks ago was your first Sunday in the preschool class at church. Daddy and I weren't sure how you would do making the transition into a new classroom, but you love it! Your teachers tell us you do a good job of listening to the story and following directions and we already knew you'd love the play time and the snack time and the coloring time. It seems crazy that you're grown up enough to be in the "big kids" class now.
Meal time is quite the battle at our house lately. Even when we serve foods you love you just choose not to eat, unless it is breakfast time. It makes things a little tricky. We've tried a few different strategies to get you to eat and I think we are finally making some headway. We'll see....
Your sister is currently screaming that she needs a diaper change. You're trying your darnedest to make her happy, but she isn't having any of it. I'd better sign off and get her changed. Mommy and Daddy love you very much and are so proud of you! Thank you for being such a blessing to both of us and to your baby sister :)
