Hello Second Trimester!

We did it! We made it to the second trimester. Today is day 3 of week 14.

As per request of some family members, (and something I've been considering for awhile), I will now take all the rest of my pictures wearing the same shirt. I hadn't done so up until now because not much had changed, as far as the eye could see. However, my skin is beginning to feel stretched to a somewhat uncomfortable state and I can now feel that there is something inside me. I still haven't felt the baby's movement, but my stomach feels heavy and I can tell that I'm carrying another little body around. All that to say, visible changes are on the horizon and I'll wear the same shirt in my picture now so that they can be more easily tracked.

We went to the doctor again this past week. We were able to hear the baby's heartbeat for the second time. It was just as exciting and precious as the first time! Other than that, there's nothing to report. I go in again on the 16th. At that checkup we can have the screening test done for Downs Syndrome and Spina Bifida, if we so choose.

I'm still able to wear all my regular clothes, but, just within the last few days, I can tell my pants are beginning to get tighter. I think I'll be employing my BellaBand here real quick. Thank goodness for maternity luxuries such as these!

I still haven't had any regular cravings, though there have been a few random ones. Nothing ever sounds good to me. I do have a regular appetite and once I start eating I really enjoy the food, but I never know what to make for any of our meals because I can't ever think of anything that sounds yummy. I'm ready for that phase to subside.

I do have to say that I am real thankful that I do not normally have a super-human sense of smell. Even when my nose is stuffed up, (which has been nearly all of my pregnancy), I can smell super-naturally well. Most of the smells that waft up to my nose are not scents I enjoy and sometimes they make me gag a little.

Sam and I made an agreement not to "argue" over boy names until we know for sure whether we're having a boy or a girl. We decided it would be a waste of time if we're only to find out we have a little girl on the way, especially considering we already have a girl's name picked out. However, we're still keeping our ears open for suggestions for boy names.

I am really excited for our next ultrasound because our precious little one can now suck their thumb. I'm hoping we can catch that next time we get to see them.

I feel my body is suddenly changing at warp speed so I'm certain I'll have lots to report in the pictures and posts of the weeks to come. Until then, I'll continue to enjoy the privilege of being blessed with pregnancy and Sam and I will continue to thank the Lord for having His hand in the early stages of the life of our tiny son or daughter.
