1 Month!

Dear Noah Boy,
Mommy can hardly believe you are already 1 month old! Before I know it you will be crawling around and teething. Time certainly flies when you have kids!

I want to continue to write your story and archive it in my blog. My plan, now that you are here, is to write and post once a month, at least until you are 1 year old. Then, we'll reconsider frequency of writing and decide what to do from there.

You have quite the little personality already! You are constantly grunting, about what, who knows?! You love to gurgle and coo and talk to yourself. You are very alert and wide-eyed and it isn't infrequent that we get to enjoy your smiles and little laugh, though, most of the time those are expressed during your sleep. You are almost always content and will let anyone hold you. The only time you ever cry is when you're getting your diaper changed, you're hungry, or you're in the bath. You have started showing interest in some of your toys and love to look around the room and stare at anyone or anything for several hours a day.

You really love your Daddy. Whenever you are upset, which is almost never, if he picks you up or you hear his voice you will nearly instantly stop fussing. You love to lay on his chest and just hang out. I can already tell you are going to be a Daddy's boy.

Since the day we brought you home from the hospital you have been trying to hold your little head up all by yourself. You've become quite good at it and can hold it up for several seconds at a time. You have also been trying to roll over since day 1. You can get yourself on your side, but haven't figured out how to go all the way over yet. I keep telling you to slow down! You're getting too big too fast!

You are a great sleeper! You hardly slept a wink the first night we were home from the hospital, but ever since then you have been a dream! Most nights you only wake up once to eat and then you go right back to sleep. I usually end up getting 7-9 hours of sleep in increments of 3-6 hours at a time. I am so grateful for this!

You have already been to the doctor several times since you were born. You had a check up at 9 days because of being early and being a "mag baby." At this check up you weighed 6 lb. and 5 oz. You also went for a doctor's visit at 2.5 weeks and weighed 6 lb. 12 oz. We had to go back again at 3.5 weeks and you weighed 7 lb. 6.5 oz. and were 22.5" long, (1 lb., 5.5 oz. bigger than at birth and 3 inches longer than at birth). You are growing so fast! The doctor is thrilled that you are getting longer and putting weight on so nicely. Your mommy, on the other hand, finds it a little bittersweet. I am thankful that you are healthy, but a little sad that you're growing and changing so rapidly.

You are a very spoiled little boy who is loved by lots and lots of people. Mommy's coworkers threw a baby shower for you on May 19, our church gave you one on May 27, and our family is doing one for you on June 3. You have received so many gifts that I think we're going to have to expand your nursery.

Currently, you have approximately a million nicknames, most of which have been made up by your Daddy. Here are a few of the most frequently-used terms of endearment: peanut, tiny tot, little man, little monster, scooter, Noah boy, Noah T., little boy, Mr., Noah baby, sweet boy, and the list goes on.

I was so happy to have you in my arms on Mothers' Day this year, considering you weren't supposed to be here yet. It was a very special Mothers' Day spent with our families. You are such a sweet baby and I could not wish for a better God-given task than to be your Mommy. I am looking forward to the next month of your life, about which I'll blog, and the many, many Mothers' Days ahead.
