Wow! What a long week! I am so grateful that the week end finally decided it was time to show itself.
Last Sunday afternoon, right around 4:30 the phone rang. Unfortunately, I was upstairs and my sister answered it. It just so happened to be my doctor calling. Kendra quickly became very suspicious and wanted to know if we were pregnant. Sam and I made up a lie, right on the spot, that I had some tests run because the doctor wanted to see if there was anything more she could do to help with these awful allergies of mine. Luckily, she bought the lie.
I was extremely nervous that the doctor had called to give me some bad news, seeing that it was 4:30 on a Sunday. However, it were just the opposite. She explained that my blood work came back perfectly normal and that it showed I was 5 weeks pregnant at the time, which is exactly what I thought. Praise the Lord! We scheduled a follow-up ultrasound for 7.5 weeks. We're praying that these results hold the same wonderful news!
I don't have many new things to write about this week. As of lately, my cramps have lessened considerably. I am very thankful for this. I have been feeling extremely tired, but have still been able to maintain my work schedule and keep my routine of cooking and getting things done around the house, (with the help of my amazing hummy!), while having a busy schedule of events almost every evening of the week. I feel very blessed that this is the case and pray that this will continue.
Tomorrow, we are going to announce our exciting news to our family! They will find out that we are 6 weeks pregnant. We are really looking forward to telling them. We've been trying to get them all together for a few weeks, but our schedules really haven't been cooperating. We're looking forward to having the news out so that we don't have to tip-toe around anymore and others can enjoy our excitement with us!
At first, we were planning to do a scavenger hunt to reveal the news, but we changed our minds. I googled "exciting ways to announce pregnancy," on a whim, and got a few cool ideas. Our families think they are just coming over for a game night. We are going to tell them that we found a new game to play and want to give it a try. The rules are that you look through newspaper and magazine clippings and try to find a picture that looks cool. Then, you write one of those mastercard commercial sayings to go along with it (i.e. Vacation to Hawaii: $2,000, New Golf Clubs: $500, A New Pair of Shoes: $20, An evening spent with your family: Priceless). Then, whoever comes up with the most creative saying and picture wins. We will explain that we have an example poster to show them so they get the idea of the game. It will look like this:
Just in case you can't read the poster it says: 1. 8" x 10" photo: $4.74
2. Poster board: $.30
3. Knowing there are actually 3 people in this photo: Priceless!
I told Sam that I wish I could have my camera ready to capture the look on their faces, but if I got it out, I think they might know something is up... Next week, I'll get to share about how ecstatic our families were when they found out!
This was a great idea! I really wish there was some way you could have hidden that camera and captured their faces! Lies Kasi-I never thought you could do that in a million years-good job! I mean shame on you! HA All for a good cause-like Christmas is all!
